What is a Real Estate Agent?
A licensed professional who represents buyers or sellers in a real estate transaction. While a broker may work independently, an agent usually works under a licensed broker to represent clients.
There are four primary responsibilities for Real Estate Professionals:
Seller’s Agent: A professional who helps list the property for sale. The seller's agent represents the person selling the property and holds allegiance to that party.
Buyer’s Agent: A buyer's agent helps potential buyers navigate the real estate market. This type of real estate agent reaches out to pre-qualified buyers to determine their needs, schedule showings, host open houses, present purchase offers, and sell homes.
Dual Agent: Dual agency is a real estate term that means one agent or brokerage represents both the seller and the buyer in the same real estate transaction. A dual agent must walk a narrow path to be neutral toward both parties, and they may not disclose confidential information to either party.
Facilitator (Non-Agent): Transaction facilitator means an industry member who has been engaged under a Transaction Brokerage Agreement to provide facilitation services to the buyer and the seller in the same trade.
